Bethesda Foundation pledges additional 1.3 mill for RestHaven expansion

June 25, 2019

The Province of Manitoba recently announced that Steinbach would be getting 83 additional personal care home beds through a significant expansion at Rest Haven Nursing Home. The 60 bed facility will more than double to a total of 143 beds. These additional beds are urgently needed as the wait list for placement is long, and all too often our seniors are having to move far away from family and friends when they need personal care home support.

The great news came with a few challenges to overcome. Bethesda Foundation had previously pledged to raise the $4 million community contribution needed to move this project forward. It was now evident that an additional $1.3 million would be needed from the community for the expansion to proceed.

Garth Reimer, Chair of Bethesda Foundation, says “This project is simply too important, and urgently needed, to delay any further. In order to move the project ahead as quickly as possible, Bethesda Foundation is pleased to step up and has pledged to raise the additional $1.3 mill required.”

Reimer adds, “The total pledge of $5.3 mill is by far the largest in the Foundation’s history, and is only possible because of the many generous donors in this community. A huge thanks to all of those generous donors for repeatedly stepping up with us, to continue enhancing healthcare close to home.”
